Zu türkisch-deutschen Beziehungen wurde und wird viel geforscht. Allerdings treffen die Einzeldisziplinen selten zusammen, um ihre Ergebnisse für die interkulturelle Praxis in Deutschland und der Türkei zu diskutieren.Diese Lücke will dieser Band schließen helfen: Er versammelt Beiträge aus den Bereichen Sprach-, Literatur- und Medienwissenschaft, Soziologie, Politologie und anderen türkisch-deutschen Kontaktfeldern. Wissenschaftler aus der Türkei, Deutschland und den USA thematisieren z.B. die EU-Beitrittsverhandlungen, die Gotteskriegerkonfigurationen in der deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur und das Deutschlandbild in türkischen Filmen, deutsch-türkisches Brain Drain, interkulturelles Lernen und Literaturdidaktik, türkische Schulen in Deutschland sowie Mehrsprachigkeit und literarische Übersetzung. So geraten auch kontroverse Aspekte im türkisch-deutschen Kontakt in den Blick, denn weder eine Betonung vermeintlich unüberwindbarer Widersprüche noch eine harmonisierende Verdrängung von Konflikten ist zielführend, wenn es um eine Verbesserung der türkisch-deutschen Beziehungen geht.

Dr. Yasemin Dayoglu-Yücel ist DAAD-Lektorin an der Istanbul Universität. Prof. Dr. Michael Hofmann lehrt und forscht an der Universität Paderborn. Prof. Dr. Seyda Ozil (Universität Istanbul) arbeitet als Linguistin schwerpunktmäßig zu deutsch-türkisch-kontrastiven Themen.

Much research has been carried out on German-Turkish relations, and much is still ongoing. Yet the different disciplines seldom come together to discuss the impact of their research results on intercultural practice in Germany and Turkey. This volume seeks to help bridge that gap. It brings together contributions from the fields of linguistics, literary and media studies, sociology, political science and other areas of Turkish-German interaction. Academics from Turkey, Germany and the USA discuss, for example, the EU accession talks, the holy warrier topic in contemporary German literature and the portrayal of Germany in Turkish films, the German-Turkish brain drain, intercultural learning and literary didactics, Turkish schools in Germany, as well as multilingualism and literary translations. In this way, also controversial aspects of Turkish-German relations come under scrutiny, for neither an emphasis on allegedly insurmountable conflicts, nor the suppression of conflicts for the sake of harmony are conducive to an improvement of Turkish-German relations.>
